Methodology of Work in Outreach Activities
For eye camp the camp sight is selected with the help of local voluntary organization. The publicity is done by posters, pamphlets and through announcement by P.A.(Public Address) system by sending our vehicle in and around the village so that people are aware about the camp. On the day of camp our hospital team goes to the camp site by our mobile eye unit vehicle. After reaching the camp site they conduct screening of the patient and identify the patients who need sight restoring cataract surgery. Other patients suffering from other eye disease or those who need spectacle correction advised report to base hospital for comprehensive eye check-up.
Patient selected for surgery are brought to base hospital by our mobile eye unit. In the hospital their comprehensive eye examination is done and pre-operative investigation are done including checking of blood pressure, urine sugar, and ocular A-Scan biometry to calculate IOL(intra ocular lens) power.
